What is Class IV Laser Therapy?

class IV laser therapy therapy partners of north texas

Here at Therapy Partners of North Texas, we are proud to be able to offer and utilize the LightForce Class IV laser therapy as part of our therapy services! This is a non-invasive modality designed to help aid in reducing pain, improve mobility, and support the body’s natural healing cycle. Through specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light, the Class IV laser penetrates deep into muscles, joints, tendons, and other surrounding tissues to stimulate a process known as photo-biomodulation.

How does Laser Therapy work?

Photo biomodulation has an effect on cellular activity by increasing mitochondrial energy production of ATP, enhancing local circulation, and supporting cellular signaling associated with tissue repair and inflammatory regulation. Research has shown that these effects may help reduce inflammation by decreasing pro-
inflammatory substances, reducing pain sensitivity by modulating nerve activity, and enhancing oxygenation and nutrition delivery to repairing tissues.

Benefits of Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV lasers can help reduce pain and inflammation, decrease stiffness, and improve range of motion. It can be utilized to promote recovery following orthopedic and overuse injuries, as well as help with post-operative recovery. In many post-surgical cases, Class IV laser therapy may also assist with early-stage tissue recovery and wound healing by supporting cellular metabolism and circulation to healing tissues. It can also help reduce reliance and use of pain/opioid medications! Treatments are quick, painless, and performed alongside a customized rehabilitation program to help patients recover more efficiently and return to the activities they enjoy.
